Sartech was founded in 1989 by Peter Forey, initially as a design and marketing consultancy.  Projects including developing the ARG5410 EPIRB Tester in conjunction with ARG Electrodesign Ltd, and development of the McMurdo RT9 SART.

In 1992 Sartech began servicing of EPIRBs and SARTs, and production of lithium batteries.  Sartech became the official service representative of several overseas EPIRB manufacturers, including Kannad, ACR, Alden, & Litton.

In 1994, Sartech Engineering was formed as a partnership between Peter Forey and Saddique Mirza. This company ran alongside Sartech Electronics, taking over the manufacture of Lithium Batteries, and the servicing of distress equipment.

In April 1997, the 2 companies were merged to form Sartech Engineering Ltd, moving to new premises in November 1999.

On January 2nd 2001, Sartech Engineering Ltd took over the business of Sullivan Marine Ltd, the wholly owned UK subsidiary of French EPIRB and SART manufacturer, SERPE-IESM (now called KANNAD).

During the summer of 2001, the world-wide support of the Lokata EPIRB product line was transferred to Sartech from Kelvin Hughes Ltd.

In 2004 Sartech began UK distribution and technical support for the GME range of beacons from Australia.

In September 2005, Sartech moved again to much larger premises in Redhill, in response to the growing market for sales and service of EPIRBs for the leisure market.
